About
VFX artist & compositor
Cubichead is the creative work of Mazyar Sharifian — a visual effects artist, compositor, and creative technologist based in the Bay Area.
With a background in graphic and motion design, Mazyar’s work has evolved primarily toward visual effects and compositing, with a particular focus on Nuke and Flame. His work spans commercials, television, film, and music videos, with commercials making up the majority of his work.
Alongside traditional VFX, Mazyar has developed a strong interest in AI-driven visual workflows, working with tools and platforms ranging from ComfyUI and Griptape to generative video platforms such as Higgsfield and Runway. His recent work includes serving as the 2D lead on a Shania Twain music video created for Candy Crush, combining generative AI, compositing, and traditional visual effects into a single production workflow.
His earlier background in motion design also gives him experience across 3D and motion graphics, including Maya, Unreal Engine, and After Effects. On the finishing and editorial side, he works with DaVinci Resolve, bringing together editing, color, and visual effects as part of a broader post-production skill set.
While his master’s degree is in Visual Effects, his bachelor’s degree in engineering has also shaped the way he approaches creative work from a technical perspective. He has experience with Python and tool development, creating custom tools and workflows for applications such as Nuke and building solutions that bridge creative and technical processes.
Cubichead is where these disciplines come together — visual effects, design, technology, and experimentation.
